Shopfront Design Guide

Fine grain + people + place.

Meck was hired by Hawkesbury City Council to work with South Windsor High Street shop owners and activate frontages and enhance vibrancy while supporting the retail rebirth of the Town Centre post-Covid-19 lockdowns. The guide bridged State grant expectations with shop owner practical knowledge to implement outcomes designed to encourage building owners and operators to invest in façade and shop front improvements.

User Friendly, Jargon Free Guide

The guide aimed to be simple, easy to understand and provide easy tips for improving shopfronts. Each idea was adaptable to building types, available space and footpath widths along George Street.

Co-Design with Shop Owners

Fine grain detail and design is an important part of improving façade and shopfronts and key to attracting more patrons. Meck worked with shop owners to understand existing issues of the local business community, led capacity building efforts around shopfront design and developed graphic communication techniques to showcase good and bad practices for adapting shopfronts under this program.
